Dr. Charles L. Maurer is a board certified Medical Oncologist and Hematologist and serves as the HOAF President. For more than two decades, Dr. Maurer has helped Fredericksburg families with their blood disorder or cancer treatment. Alongside his clinical and administrative responsibilities at HOAF, Dr. Maurer also serves as the Chairman of the Mary Washington Cancer Committee and the Director of the Mary Washington Oncology Executive Committee.
Dr. Maurer achieved his Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital. It was there that Dr. Maurer decided to pursue specialized training in the treatment of blood disorder and cancer by completing a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology.
Outside of the office, you may find Dr. Maurer at one of his children’s Scout events or fencing tournaments. Dr. Maurer takes an active role in his kids’ sporting endeavors as he serves as the Chartered Organization Representative (COR) for Troop 170. He also enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, running and gardening and studying local history with his wife.
