Dr. Christopher Vaughn is a board certified Medical Oncologist and Hematologist who joined the HOAF family back in 2008 and sees our patients at The Lodge in Fredericksburg, VA. Dr. Vaughn earned his Doctor of Medicine from The Medical University of South Carolina. He then completed his residency at the University of Virginia School of Medicine before expanding his training with a fellowship in hematology and oncology.
Dr. Vaughn prioritizes continuing education and frequently serves as a guest lecturer at conferences nationwide, where he offers his expertise on leading approaches in cancer therapy such as targeted therapy and immunotherapies.
Dr. Vaughn is proud to belong to several professional medical organizations, including the Division of Hematology & Oncology-University of Virginia School of Medicine, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology. He continues to serve an active role in the medical community as a VAHO board member, Institutional Review Board (IRB), board member of YMCA, and Malignant Hematology Service Chair at Mary Washington Hospital. Also close to his heart is serving as the Principal Investigator (PI) of clinical trials.
In his free time, Dr. Vaughn enjoys spending time with his wife and their three sons. He has several hobbies including playing golf, pickleball and the bass guitar. He is also the host of HOAF’s podcast, Cancer Shop Talk, where patients, caregivers, specialists and other experts are brought on to enlighten listeners about what comes after a cancer diagnosis.
